Dr. Alladdin M. Abosaida
Pediatric Pulmonology
Dr. Abosaida is a board-certified pediatrician and pediatric pulmonologist. He earned his medical degree from Tripoli University, completed his pediatric residency at Woodhull Medical Center in New York, and then pursued a fellowship in pediatric pulmonology at the University of California, Irvine. During his training, he developed a strong focus on caring for children with breathing and lung conditions.
For more than a decade, Dr. Abosaida has cared for families across central Iowa through his work at Blank Children’s Hospital and MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center. Known for combining deep clinical expertise with a calm, compassionate approach, he has become a trusted presence in the community’s pediatric care.
Dr. Abosaida specializes in diagnosing and managing asthma, allergies, chronic cough, recurrent respiratory infections, breathing difficulties, chronic lung diseases, and sleep apnea. He partners closely with families, taking time to explain each child’s condition and treatment options. By blending the latest medical advances with a personal, family-centered approach, he helps children breathe easier and achieve better long-term health.
Dr. Fadi Alkhatib
Pediatric Allergy, Asthma & Immunolog
Dr. Alkhatib is a board-certified allergist–immunologist and internist. He earned his medical degree with honors in immunology from Michigan State University College of Human Medicine. He completed an Internal Medicine residency at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Massachusetts, affiliated with Tufts University School of Medicine. He then pursued fellowship training in Allergy and Immunology at Larkin Community Hospital in South Miami.
As the leading allergist and immunologist at The Allergy Institute, Dr. Alkhatib has headed a renowned team serving Central Iowa for decades. The clinic has a proven track record in asthma, allergy, and immunology care and was proudly voted "Best Allergy and Asthma Clinic" by Des Moines People's Choice Awards from 2022 to 2025.
Dr. Alkhatib specializes in complex airway-related immunologic disorders, with a focus on treating severe asthma in pediatric and adult patients. His expertise extends to conditions such as COPD, allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis (ABPA), hypersensitivity pneumonitis (Farmer's Lung), eosinophilic pneumonia, and other lung-related immunologic disorders.
He has implemented evidence-based care pathways for severe asthma, COPD, eosinophilic esophagitis, and eczema, including biologic therapies such as tezepelumab (Tezspire), omalizumab (Xolair), dupilumab (Dupixent), benralizumab (Fasenra), and mepolizumab (Nucala) when appropriate.
Through satellite clinics, Dr. Alkhatib and his team expand access to advanced allergy and immunology care throughout Central Iowa and neighboring communities.
